I have two previous posts on the Spidey 4 issue. First, Raimi and Maguire dropped out over never-ending script disputes. Then they hired a new director in the form of Marc Webb. Now, the 3-D thing. I keep feeling like this is a disaster waiting to happen. A franchise reboot that will confuse viewers who shelled out hundreds of millions to one of the most successful comic book film franchises of all-time...by a new director...with a newer, younger cast...same story, but a different story...all in 3-D?!?!?
See, you're probably confused already.
No word yet on the villains...or the kid who's gonna play the "younger" Spidey. And as for the new Batman...it's rumored for 2011, but gimme a break -- that ain't happenin'. I'd say summer 2012 for that one, at earliest. No real announcements about the script yet, let alone the cast.
Personally, I can't wait for The Green Hornet (due in December), simply for the eclectic audacity of its cast and crew. Seth Rogen in the lead, with a script by Rogen and Evan Goldberg...directed by Michel Gondry. And who is playing the villain?
None other than soon-to-be-Oscar-winner Christoph Waltz.
